Which pet care organisations should your dog walker be part of?

Deciding which dog walkers hand you should leave your fur kids health and happiness in can be a minefield. So those who stand out with high standards will undoubtedly catch your interest.

We are all working harder due to the changing economy and as a result, there has been an upsurge in new dog care business’ popping up throughout Kent.

Who doesn’t want to play with puppies and kittens all day, right?  But this old timer has noticed a worrying trend, the use of ‘organisation logos’.

So how do you become a member and what does it mean?

Sadly money talks. You pay your money, and you get to use a logo that makes you look like a member of an important body. No checks, no code of conduct, no education. Some are better than others and give the buyer advantages such as a CRB check or insurance, but all professionals should have those anyway! Some may have a code of conduct but then boast about their thousands of members.

Do you think they are checking on them all?

Which organisations are the best?

Sadly there isn’t an easy answer. There are so many that you must do your own research. Look for in-depth codes of conduct and ask your pet sitter what they mean to them. For example Poppy and Pals can say we are proud members of the Pet Professional Guild because we strongly stand by our foundation in reward-based training. If they are a proud member and not just paying their fee, they will be able to tell you what is so great about the organisation.
