We get asked a lot whether we offer dog boarding. We don’t. Here are 5 reasons we don’t offer dog boarding:
1. Our own dogs. I could cheat here and list all of our own doggies because when it comes down to it what sort of a pet professional would I be if my own little friends didn’t come first? I won’t though so let us just say when it comes to sharing their home my five would leave home! Ignoring their wonky-ness (2 are 12, and Poppy is blind) they love their sofa too much to share it with anyone else but each other, and sometimes that can be hit and miss.
2. License. To legally board a dog, a license from the council is required. Not a lot of people are aware of that and some just don’t care. Well, we do. Our business is legitimate, and it is highly unlikely with the extra cost of a license and insurance that we would make enough money to cover expenses and a little profit, without more dogs in the house than we would be comfortable with.
3. Our speciality. Although we have a lot of happy and ‘normal’ dogs on our books, we do specialise in nervous dogs who thrive better in their own homes. We find in home pet care to be much less stressful for them and in fact, most dogs find being in their own surroundings much less distressing.
4. Time. Did you know our work day generally starts at 9am and ends at 6pm (when I am not staying overnight at clients homes)? We are out alllll day and I have to schedule our own dogs loo break into the working day, I just don’t have the extra time to spend at home with extra doggies.
5. Small furrys. Although we don’t have any currently, we do love our little furry pets, and the presence of a fluffy bunny or a squeaky rat can drive some dogs crazy, even from another room which wouldn’t be fair on your dog or our little prey animal
